Thoughtful Teaching,
Clear Progress

Cerdas Academy was built around a simple idea: learning AI takes real effort, and good teaching should meet that honestly.

Our Story

How Cerdas Academy Came to Be

Cerdas Academy started in Petaling Jaya in 2019, when a group of data practitioners noticed something recurring: working professionals in Malaysia who wanted to learn AI were either overwhelmed by courses that moved too fast, or underwhelmed by content that never connected theory to practice.

The name comes from the Malay word for "intelligent" or "bright" — but the intention was never to produce people who could pass a test. It was to produce people who understood what they were doing well enough to keep going on their own.

We've kept the cohort sizes small, the feedback personal, and the prerequisites honest. That hasn't changed as we've grown, and we don't intend it to.

Our Mission

What We're Here to Do

We help people in Malaysia develop AI skills that hold up under real use — not just in a controlled learning environment, but in the kinds of problems they actually face at work.

Our courses are paced so that someone working full-time can participate without burning out. Our tutors give feedback that explains reasoning, not just right-or-wrong results. And we're straightforward about what each course involves so people can make an informed choice before they enrol.

We're an online school, but we try to teach the way a good mentor would — with attention, honesty, and some patience for the parts that take time.

Our Values

What Shapes Our Approach

Honesty

We're clear about what each course requires, what it covers, and what it won't do for you. We'd rather lose an enrolment than set someone up for disappointment.

Steady Progress

Learning sticks when it moves at a pace that allows reflection. We build that into our course structure rather than leaving it to the learner to manage alone.

Genuine Support

Tutor feedback is written by people who have worked in the field. It's specific, constructive, and aimed at helping you understand — not just complete.

The Team

People Behind the Courses

Our instructors and tutors come from applied data science and software backgrounds. They've worked on real projects, which shapes how they explain things.

AN

Ahmad Naqiuddin

Lead Instructor — Data & ML

Seven years in applied machine learning across fintech and logistics. Ahmad designed the first two modules and leads tutor coordination.

SW

Siti Waniha

Curriculum Lead

Former academic turned practitioner, Siti manages the sequence and pacing of all courses to ensure they work for people with limited study time.

LK

Lim Kah Seng

Deep Learning Instructor

Kah Seng brings industry experience in computer vision and NLP. He leads the Deep Learning Projects module and all capstone mentoring.

Standards

How We Keep Quality Consistent

Every cohort goes through the same review and feedback cycle. These are the standards we hold ourselves to.

Tutor Qualification

All tutors have at least three years of applied AI or data science experience and go through a structured onboarding before joining a cohort.

Regular Course Review

Course content is reviewed and updated at least once per year to reflect changes in tools and practice — Python libraries, framework versions, and industry norms.

Feedback Turnaround

We commit to returning written feedback on submitted exercises within three working days. Learners are told if this window needs to shift.

Data Privacy

Learner data is held only as long as needed for course administration. We don't sell or share personal information. Our approach is described in our Privacy Policy.

Honest Prerequisites

Every course page and enquiry response includes a clear statement of what background knowledge is expected — so learners can make an informed decision.

Learner Satisfaction Tracking

We collect structured feedback at the end of each cohort and use it to adjust pacing, materials, and tutor assignment for the next intake.

AI Education Built Around How People Actually Learn

Most working adults who explore AI development face a common difficulty: the available courses tend to move either too fast to follow or too slowly to be useful. Cerdas Academy was designed specifically to close that gap for learners in Malaysia, where there's a growing need for practical AI skills in sectors from finance to manufacturing to public services.

Our three-course path — Data Foundations, Machine Learning in Practice, and Deep Learning Projects — is built so that each module genuinely prepares you for the next. The first course doesn't assume you know Python; the second doesn't assume you can evaluate a model without guidance. We lay out the prerequisites honestly because we've seen what happens when people skip steps they weren't told mattered.

Located in Jaya One, Petaling Jaya, Cerdas Academy operates entirely online but maintains a local focus. Our case studies draw on Malaysian and regional datasets, our working hours are set for the Malaysian time zone, and our tutors are based in the country. We think this matters — AI isn't context-neutral, and learning it in a context you recognise makes the difference between understanding and memorising.

If you're considering whether an AI course is the right next step, we're glad to talk through your background and where you'd like to get to. There's no pressure in that conversation — just an honest look at what might fit.
